Trying to conceive (TTC) can feel overwhelming, especially when you're unsure about when to have sex or how to track your fertility.
The good news? You can learn to understand your body’s fertility signals.
In this post, we’ll break down the best time for conception, how to track ovulation, and why cervical mucus (CM) is your secret fertility ally.

You’re not alone if you feel uncertain about the timing. Many women are left with incomplete or unclear guidance about their fertility, but here's the good news: you can learn to understand your body’s fertility signals in just 2-3 cycles.
I know, I know… when trying to conceive (TTC), waiting for a couple of cycles feels like forever. But trust me, this understanding will save you time and emotional pain. It’s like gaining a new level of insight into your body, not just for TTC but for womanhood as a whole.
Understanding your cycle helps you shift from guessing, “Why is my period late? Am I pregnant?” to knowing, “I ovulated a bit later this cycle, so my period is coming later, or better yet, I know exactly when I’m ovulating.” That’s the clarity you need when TTC.
There are many methods out there for tracking your cycle, but today I’ll focus on one that I find most effective.
Spoiler Alert: it’s not about predicting the future or relying on past cycles—it’s about tuning into your body and responding to what it’s telling you TODAY.
Let's drop the idea that your cycle will always be regular and predictable. Life happens—stress, sleep changes, travel, and even diet can impact your cycle. When health issues are present, disruptions become more noticeable.
Tracking your cycle is like mindfulness meditation. Just as meditation brings your focus back to the present, tracking your fertility is about paying attention to the fertile signs your body shows you today, not yesterday or tomorrow.
Here’s the secret to understanding your fertility: cervical mucus (CM).
Yep, your cervical mucus is your primary fertility signal. It might seem old-school compared to apps and ovulation predictor kits (OPKs), but your body’s natural signs are way more reliable.
While OPKs can measure the surge in luteinizing hormone (LH) that signals ovulation, they can sometimes give false positives, especially if you have PCOS, where elevated LH levels can skew results.
On the other hand, CM is essential for sperm survival—CM can keep sperm alive for up to 5 days, protecting them from the acidic vaginal environment and more over specialized cells in our CM, filter out defective sperm and others prepares the sperm to be able to fertilize an oocyte (egg).
It’s pretty amazing, right? Our bodies have been designed with this intricate system to help us conceive. Lets take this as a beautiful reminder that all innovation and technology in the world are a great support, but at the end of the day is just an artificial try to copy our wonderful nature that we have been borne with.
On the Renew Fertility Roadmap we navigate all the nuances of our wonderful CM as an important piece of all the steps we take along the day, if you are TTC or preparing for conception you do not want to miss this.
And while on the RFR we navigate all the nuances to boost your fertility potential for both of you, while potentially reducing miscarriage risks, I want to give you four key reasons why you should start paying attention to your CM today:
It helps you time sex for conception.
It optimizes your chances of getting pregnant.
It confirms ovulation.
It gives insights into your menstrual cycle health.
Ok, I am sure you get it, but you might be asking yourself, how can you use this information and start tracking your cervical mucus and use it as an important tool on your TTC journey.
Alright, here we go. There are three steps to mastering CM tracking:
On the way, there are many questions that might surge, do not worry, we cover it all on the RFR, in the meanwhile you can always send me your questions that I am more than happy to respond, is my love to help you have your wonderful lovely baby.
As you approach ovulation, your body produces CM. After ovulation, your progesterone levels rise, and CM decreases.
To confirm ovulation, find your “peak day”—the last day of your cycle when you observe clear, stretchy, or lubricative mucus. A clear shift from mucus days to dry days confirms ovulation.
It’s helpful to cross-check your CM observations with your basal body temperature (BBT) for added accuracy, in future posts, I’ll dive deeper into basal body temperature and cervix position for even more fertility insights, if you cannot wait, go ahead, and write me your questions, I will be more than happy to reply to every single one of them.
Unfortunately, TTC it is not always so straight forward, right? And as hard as it is, we continue searching for answers and that is the way to go, as that is the way to get to the solutions that you and your partner particularly need.
When we have hormonal imbalances, interpreting your CM might be tricky.
For example, excess estrogen can cause CM early in your cycle, and low progesterone might extend CM after ovulation. Both can impact fertility, but don’t worry—we cover all these nuances of sex time for conception, CM, hormonal imbalances and way much more on The Renew Fertility Roadmap, ensuring you and your partner are set for success.
Remember, tracking fertility is about tuning into the wisdom of your body. While technology is helpful, there’s no substitute for your natural signals.
In future posts, I’ll dive deeper into basal body temperature tracking and cervix position for even more fertility insights. Past post talk about male fertility factor, strategies to boost fertility, epigenetics and others… go ahead and sneak around.
But if you can’t wait, feel free to reach out with any questions—I’d love to help you on your journey to conception.
My number one recommendation is to make sure you get a spot in The Renew Fertility Roadmap, most likely the most comprehensive fertility journey with integral solutions for both, men and women.
